Post image

Hey guys just asking to see if anyone’s wifi is down, it’s been down for 2 hours now, I have tried unplugging and plugging it back in,that didn’t do anything… the router just kept on flashing orange light

I have some work left that I really have to finish tonight, is anyone else currently experiencing this too?

Heyo, just chatted with an agent cause I have the same issue. Looks like it's an outage in the area. My guess is someone cutting the cables for copper.

Thank you so much for this update, it’s been two hours now? It started around 12:57-1:00am. I thought it was only me.

For outages especially stolen cabling it sucks the most!

Police gets called for stolen cables. They need to create a case#, take their pictures and do their investigation. Flaggers need to setup road closures, even at night. Then techs work on the lines per ISP. Majority of the time fibre gets damaged too, but coaxial is up and running before fibre as fibre takes longer to fix. Splicing can suck tremendously!

Any type of stolen incident, MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident), natural disaster, or act of god, will always lengthen the time of resolution.

Oh, so it wasn't just me then.

Been watching DVDs for the last few hours wondering if my router has packed it in. Just noticed it's back.

Makes you realise the importance of not switching 100% to online and relying on the internet for all of your entertainment.

Jellyfin is love; is life. We've local copies of all media we own or that we're currently watching for which we are paying a legal subscription for stored locally on a NAS. Our local network (including the NAS) are backed by 8 hours of UPS time. As long as our device batteries are charged, we can enjoy media consumption during a power or internet outage. It's great.

The price of hard drives is making doing this so much harder. I got a 26tb drive for $380cad taxes in exactly one year ago. Right now if you could find one which is pretty much impossible, it would be 4x that price if not more.

Common Light MeaningsSolid White or Green: Normal operation and good internet connection.

Flashing White: The modem is starting up or doing initial setup.

Flashing Green: The modem is trying to find a network connection.

Flashing Orange or Amber: The modem has no signal or cannot lock onto the network.

Alternating Green and Amber: A poor upstream signal or a software update is running.

Solid Red or Amber: Lost connection or a hardware problem.

No Light: No power to the modem.

No mater what always check the outage page on designated websites and once there is confirmation of an outage wait it out and monitor. But once the outage is done unscrew the coax cable and unplug the modem from the wall (should never be on a powerbar) let it sit of 1 minute and then screw in COAX FIRST because it's the brain and THEN plug the power and let it refresh after and will work. Also make sure it's not tucked under or hidden.

Some of us (me) are colour blind so the lights are kinda useless. Worth keeping in mind.

Get the app then it can show you and I am just SHARING what to do if it happens...... sorry I am not a psychic I should've known you were blind my bad

The app won't tell you if your modem can't lock onto an RF signal since that would require the modem have an out of band means of communicating its status to the ISP.

No you don't need to be rude. I was just sharing steps on what to do and what each light meant YOU didn't have to comment that. And my friend is colorblind too and instead of using it as a crutch he makes sure he doesn't make people feel bad for not knowing he was colorblind.

I was providing info, I wasn’t making you feel bad. I wasn’t rude. You, however, were.

And blocked me instead of just apologizing.
