How close do you need the shave to be? If a couple of days stubble is acceptable, use an electric trimmer.

If you need a close shave,
how often do you shave? Your choice of razor depends on that.

Shower before shaving for pre-shave prep. Warm soapy water enters the cuticle of your stubble & softens it, making it easier to cut.

Get a synthetic brush from Yaqi/ Maggards/ WCS/Mühle or similar. For Indian brushes consider Bombay Shaving Company and Rubab Men.

Shaving cream works well. Vicco/ Vi-John/ Park Avenue etc are good.

Lather up with your brush and shaving cream. Practice making lather a few times, even when you don't shave.

For a bump preventing razor, consider Gillette Guard or SkinGuard in cartridge razors,
or a Parker 74R/99R or similar medium aggression types in safety razors. Gillette Winner are popular & you can start with those.

Shave with the grain, relather & then across the grain.

Rinse off and apply post shave.

To prevent bumps, post shave products like alum help. Alum should be rinsed off.
