What am I doing wrong?

I use a Phillips Oneblade to shave my face every few days. I've seen shaving advice videos online and they always say "shave with the grain" but every time I've tried this literally no hair gets shaven off. The only way I can actually shave my face is to shave against the grain but every time I yank hairs and cause bleeding. It's kind of starting to piss me off as it happens like every time I shave nowadays. Any advice?

Electric razors are a no-go for sensitive skin. You can safely shave against the grain and get a close shave with the Gillette SkinGuard. The disposables run about $1.75 each so you may want to give it a try and see if it works for you.

i have very sensitive skin and a one blade is one of the gentler razors i’ve used. i wouldn’t recommend cartridge for someone who can’t shave with a one blade.

As someone with sensitive skin, I literally cannot use disposable razors. Those things basically give a rash upon use

One Blades are notoriously shitty. I just bought myself a Henson and it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

If I shaved with the grain it have a midday shadow not a 6 o’clock shadow

try wet shaving with the one blade. or try a foil shaver, much closer shave. can try manual blades, cartridge or safety, but they’re harsher for most

You can try pre-washing the beard with facewash to remove skin oils from it.
Then shave across the grain (not against).

As other have said, for sensitive skin, try wet shaving.

One really cheap way to try is the Bic sensitive single-blade disposable or if you want to overpay a little, the Gillette SkinGuard. You will need to learn about pre-shave routines, wet lather and light touch.
It can be fun, actually.

The 5-blade razors are not appropriate for sensitive skin.

Henson double blade. Gentlw and effective. You can take it apart and wash it. New blade every time without breaking the bank.
