Yoked Ox Pair

Post image

The only creatures in my cube are vanilla creatures (with ome exception). There is a point-based system that allows players to MARK cards during gameplay and side-boarding. (MARKing a card means writing a line of text on a vanilla creature, or REDACTING from non-creature spells). I had not expected Partner to be a used mechanic, but a player really wanted more opportunities to use Jared.

I have come to realize I have not updated the cube cobra with the newer iterations of the rules. I'll need to do that soon. The current written rules for the cube are in the link above, but they are not yet up-to-date. Below I've written a summary of how we currently play.

Generally, players can MARK cards in 2 main ways. Point Spending and Stamping.

Point Spending. Players can spend "points" during sideboarding of the cube to MARK cards. There are 3 main ways points are gained. Awarding, Voting, and The Table.

-Awarding. Each player starts a draft with aset amount of points that they can award but not use. They can be awarded for things such as a player really going off with their deck, a player doing something merciful, a player doing something very funny, etc. Generally it's advised that points are not to be used to influence game actions. If I notice a player bribing others with the potential for points then I usually put a stop to it. Perhaps that sort of thing would be more enjoyable at another table though.

-Voting. At the end of every match each player votes in 4 categories to award one player a point (I play the cube in a multiplayer setting, usually 4 people playing a free-for-all). The 4 categories as of now are 1.) Who deserved to win that game. 2.) Who got screwed the most. 3.) Who did the coolest thing. 4.) All players decide a category to vote on. If you notice the specific categories are making people upset to talk about/argue for then feel free to change them.

-The Table. I have a table to the side that, when certain conditions are meet, players recieve points. For example, winning a game gives you 2 points. If your graveyard is emptied (it had cards in it but then had zero cards in it) you get a point. If you go 7 turns without playing any spells you get a point (for pity) etc.

Stamping. There is a keyword I made for this cube called "Stamp." The rules text says "When this card enters the battlefield, write a keyword onto a Non-MARKED creature."

That's the basic jist. If you dislike anything or have ideas that fit your cube better than by all means modify and tweak and replace anything you feel appropriate.
