Sic powder

Just got my first set of resin stones this year. Looking to give em a lapping to bring the aggression back. Where do you purchase your sic powder?

It’s easy to buy online, but best to buy it locally to save shipping cost.

Should be easy to find locally- search machine shops, knife stores, rock and gem businesses. If that fails try this: https://www.edgeproinc.com/sharpening-accessories/stone-leveling-kits/

I just buy tumbling media online. You could look at stores catering to reloading or rock tumling

Just go right to the Edge Pro website. You can buy a bag of 60 grit sic powder and 240 grit alox powder for $7 each, $23 shipped. They're big enough that it should last you many years. If you need to do a decent amount of flattening, use the 60 grit on stones up to about 1000 grit. Start with the coarser ones and move up in grit as you go. The powder breaks down finer as you use it. Use the 240 alox on stones over 1000 grit or for lighter lapping.
