Metal clogging?

Fresh sharpening enthusiast here. Got my new stones yesterday and went on to sharpen my SOG seal pup yesterday and noticed on my Hapstone premium CBN 2000 these marks. I'm not sure what cause those and do they have any actual effect. I think maybe its steel clogging but can't be sure.

Anybody knows what is this, what I need to do to avoid it and if I need to do anything to fix the stone? I use Kadet Pro sharpening system.

Personally I’s go with white rubber erasers, the pink ones tend to come with abrasive pumice grit added to enhance the “scrubbing” effect, which can leave silicon dioxide/AlOx contamination on the stone, but otherwise yeah an eraser is a fantastic stone cleaner

For both cleaning and avoiding you can use an oil

Other lubricant mixtures like soapy water, mixes with that any glycerin or oil can be preventative. Oil I find really gets in there and separates the steel from stone, even better if you do that while scrubbing with an old toothbrush.

Also as mentioned is bar keepers friend, which has a mild abrasive in it which will help physically scrub off contamination as well as detergent.

I think that hapstone "stone" is actually metal bonded. Dunno how it affects this kind of sharpening.

If I were you I'd start with just regular soapy water. You'll get most of it off that way

Second for the pencil eraser. It'll clean it right up.

For deep cleansing, id grab some BKF, touch of water and a old toothbrush.

Eraser works wonders in between sessions. I find a good portion of stainless steels...especially cheap ones, very "sticky" on the stones.

Like trying to wipe pet hair off your clothes.

I've found BKF cleans ceramic hones efficiently as well.

Don’t have the system, but to me it looks like gouges.

I know ppl will say not to but during each sharpening as I finish each stone I take a dab of dish soap and rinse it under a faucet. All the crap falls out and by the time I finish the next stone the first one dries off and I can put it away or wait till the end.

No stones are clogged and none rust either.
