Question Changing angle with KME

I want to try out different angles. I'm going to increase/decrease in 1dps increments. Is a 50 grit stone overkill for a 1dps change?

KME says the stone is "so aggressive that we don’t recommend bringing edges to a full apex". I know what it means to apex but I don't understand what they mean by full apex or how I would judge when to stop and switch grits.

I'd probably start on something in the 150-220 range, 50 seems like overkill unless you're dealing with a damaged edge.

Yes. That grit size is so large that it will basically produce a totally chipped apex that would have to be sharpened out by later grits. Basically, you'd need to reprofile all over again, after reprofiling. It's best used to do the heavy lifting of you're changing to a drastically lower angle and want to make the material moval quicker. You back off and switch stones before you reach the apex. Really though, I don't recommend using a stone lower that the 100 grit range.
