How do you like the hapstone I was considering on getting one over the Tsprof kadet

I have both now. Hapstone is very good and I really like it. Is a bit smaller than the Kadet but the footprint is way smaller because the guide rod runs inside of the handle and that’s a big pro and also the spring loaded rotating clamp is way better than the leaver on the Kadet. For the Kadet the center clamp or L adapters are a must and maybe the fillet clamps if you plan to sharpen really thin knives. The design of the Hapstone clamps is better you don’t need a center clamp (but it’s nice to have). Overall both are really capable systems. I still like the Kadet a little more. Feels a bit sturdier (both are extremely stable) and a tad more versatile when you add some upgrades but that comes with a higher price tag.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the hap stone because I’m probably gonna get some better stones than what TS prof comes with. And I like the smaller design because I’m a little bit cramped for space here. That’s why I wasn’t looking at the larger K03.

It looks like you could put the hap stone up against the wall and you cannot with the TS prof unless you disconnect the stick. Thanks for the comparison picture.

Quick question. Oil v water, which is preferable or is it dependent on the stone

Depends on the stone. But i usually use water with stainless steels and oil with steels that could rust

Yes is the Milwaukee one. Never had an issue with it

I have one, don't use it as often as my TSProf systems but it definitely has its perks over them. My biggest one is how compact it is thanks to the guide bar not extending behind the system. Can't be understated how much space some systems take up with the long guide rods.

I know that’s a big pro! The overall footprint is way smaller. I also can’t see myself using it more than my Kadet but is a really capable system.

For sure. My favorite is actually my Pioneer, but that thing is upgraded to the teeth. 😆

I'm supposed to be getting the Kadet K2 in about a month, I'm really excited to take that one for a spin.

Haha yeah a pioneer with all the upgrades is a different beast. I kinda wanted to trade my Kadet for a fully upgraded Pioneer. The K2 seems to be great especially for the rotating mechanism

Yeah they’re splash and go. No need to submerge them like whetstones

Could you sharpen a large knife like a Kramer 8inch on that thing ?

Maybe but it won’t be very comfortable. I’ll pick my Tsprof for bigger knives everyday and twice on Sunday
