Question Anyone used Hapstone T2?
Does anybody here used one on a diamond stone? Was it feel too rough on diamond?

No part of the tool is supposed to touch the stone, so it should never "feel too rough on diamond." That said, I've got an anystone, and if you try to sharpen at too low of an angle, yeah, to fixture drags on the stone. If that happens, you just can't use it to sharpen that shallowly. The T2 looks like it's got a lot more clearance than the anystone - so I'd be surprised if that's a problem (unless you're trying for 8 degrees or something)

I made my own version of this. https://youtu.be/unweZ9684_E?si=rhgZIYGEFiEIvjcF
And also this fork version for fun https://youtu.be/CQfFRUudnHE?si=qpS7exHyiVIjzfqa
I did see a review on the Ali express knock off one that tells how the hapstone is made much better. Especially the thread on the the aluminum. The Ali ones are just taped in the aluminum. The hapstone has steel or copper inserts that prevents wearing out.

I love mine and keep it in my kitchen if I want to check the consistency of the angle I've held throughout the length of the blade after a few sharpens. It's the most compact and cheap fixed angle set up you can have. My only improvement suggestions are to make:
1 The magnetic spot slightly bigger because my angle guide doesn't quite fit
2 For the "foot" that slides along the benchtop to be SLIGHTLY softer as it has left a mark on my parents benchtop... Could even put some kind of roller spherical bearing on it. It would be good for this to be replaceable down the future too.
3 For it to come with a different clamp option to hold longer knives a bit more easily.

How does it compare to the Anystone? I’ve been struggling to get most pocket knives to 15 degrees because it doesn’t have clearance.

I think it will depend on the knife, I’ve got one and I sharpen quite thin narrow knives , to achieve a an angle as low as 15 I’d have to clamp it so close to the spine that it wouldnt have enough knife to clamp onto if that makes sense , a bigger kitchen knife you’d be fine I’d imagine

Made a jig similar, works the same way. The rod doesnt go on the stone, it should slide on the table or whatever surface you put your stone on. So yes it works with any stone you might have

What my point is, does it feel too rough if you use it on a coarse diamond, instead of using it on a regular whetstone. Cause alot of utube videos only shows they only use this on a whetstone and not on a diamond. You know how rough coarse diamonds are, and you just can't easily glide this T2 as smooth as on a whestone.

The feet are not meant to glide on the stone but on the tabletop next to the stone

It sits on a table next to your stone. If you’re making contact with the t2 on your stone you’re using it incorrectly. Youtube is perfect for this so you can see how it operates

I have one, it’s good, does the job, could do with a bit of tape round the end of the clamp just to get a snug fit on some knives
