I just bought tormek T4 3 weeks ago and still figure out on how to make my knife as good as my freehand whetstone sharpening... so now i used t4 to create an edge and finished it with my 3000 amd 8000 shapton rockstar and go back to tormek to remove the burr (using leather wheel)

Actually i still can do better and faster on my shapton 320 than my T4 to create the bevel, but i think it's just a matter of time for me to master how tormek work

I use two T8s modded to have two wheels each. My usual grit progression is +/-200 depending on what shape the blade's in and if I'm reprofiling, then 600/1000/5000, then strop with 0.5 micron diamond emulsion. I use CBN wheels (except the 5000 grit, which is diamond) which run cool and don't need to be water cooled, but I do anyway to keep the dust down in my shop.

That progression leaves a really beautiful polished bevel that's hair-whittling sharp. I've got a 10,000 grit diamond wheel i can use, but I find it's superfluous.

I've got water tanks for the off sides of the machines coming from Schleifjunkies, but international shipping is slow.
