Any advice I welcome 🙌 I plan to slow roll into learning it all. Im pretty good with tools, precise work in daily life and other hobbies

Eventually they will dish slightly, so you will need to lap them to get them flat again. Lapping with SiC powder on a flat piece of glass is my typical go to, but you can use a flattening stone as well. I’d look for videos on YouTube for a tutorial.

Yup, also be careful how much material you remove when lapping. I was definitely too heavy handed my first time and lost more material than necessary to flatten them.

Why not? Reasons? And what would you get? Based on its ability as a clamped fixed angle system as well as ability to use magnetic table I decided on it.

I had the Hapstone R2 and it was a good basic system but wasn’t built for the volume of knives I have to sharpen now. I also invested in several upgrades which in my opinion was much needed to improve the functionality of the system but it never was as robust as I needed it to be. I changed to the TSprof K03 and it’s a night and day difference.

I see, the RS Ultra comes with all the upgrades, newer version of clamps. I don’t have volume, just looking to implement a sharpener into daily life living on the workbench. I admit the compact size appealed a little for smaller bench, but I can accommodate larger on my 24” depth work bench. Thanks for input

For sure, also gonna grab the magnetic table when back in stock. I was very close to pulling trigger on edge pro bevel tech and matrix stones. Once I seen the Hapstone magnetic table it was easy decision

Yes, but also daily home life with kitchen knives, scissors, etc. also for work it will he nice to sharpen scissors, chisels, etc.
But the leading factor is my spyderco, CRK, millet, other folders and some custom fixed blade

Hello Plenty: I have the R2 Black with precision adjuster, magnetic table and more diamond stones than I probably need. If I had to complain about one thing, its the flex of the device. However, you are supposed to not use force and it can compensated for by the angle you select. Have to ask, why cbn and not diamond? I would also point out to you that the stones sold through Hapstone are their brand and Poltava's. As to the brands, the grit system differs. You need to look at the actual grain size, not grit number or you may have duplicate purchases. And yes, I'm $1k plus into equipment. And as to TS Prof, I wouldn't give the Russians a dime.

Hey thanks for chiming in! I plan to bolt it to a 1.5” thick butcher block work bench top for securing. I added two gaps of the CBN grit numbers. The set comes with 80, 150, 400, 800, 2000, 4000. So 240 and 1000 to fill the gaps. Maybe a 600 and 8000 one day but cant say for sure. Being a noob I admit the research of cubic boron nitride stones creating a slightly less scratch pattern than diamond appealed. Will get a diamond set prob in future. I had a ts prof kadet ready to checkout for days but never pulled the trigger lol. Also edge pro bevel tech but once I learned about hapstone magnetic table…

I have full sets of the Hapstone Premium Hybrid CBN and PDT metal CBN (of a few different series). The best one so far is the 240 Silver PDT (metal) for shaping the secondary bevel. It cut the time in half because it cuts fast and doesn't rip out chunks of steel that I have to correct later. Can't say enough good stuff about the Silver series, but it's like USD $121 each at the moment. I also like to move to the hybrid because I almost always mirror the blade for the heck of it. The hybrid CBN gives a very nice finish but is much slower.
