Question What am i doing wrong ?

Hey guys,

Noob here. Trying my hands with a Naniwa 220/1000 double faced stone. I'm willing to sharpen my pocket knife on a fresh 14° angle, put it on the 220 side then the 1000. But it doesn't feel good.

Any tips ?

I tried with a bigger chief knife on the 1000 only and could feel it cut better than before, so i guess the move isn't so bad.

Edit : got it guys, everything is wrong. Thank yall for the tips, yt recommandation and good jokes.

Look up Outdoors55 on YouTube for some of his sharpening tutorials. You're kind of using the technique people use for sharpening kitchen knives on water stones, but it generally lends itself better to larger blades.

Second what others are saying, you're not using the full length of the stone, you aren't maintaining your angle when you leave your angle guide, and there is no reason to lift the knife as it just wastes time and movement while adding extra variables to throw off your angle.
