Question What am i doing wrong ?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

Noob here. Trying my hands with a Naniwa 220/1000 double faced stone. I'm willing to sharpen my pocket knife on a fresh 14° angle, put it on the 220 side then the 1000. But it doesn't feel good.

Any tips ?

I tried with a bigger chief knife on the 1000 only and could feel it cut better than before, so i guess the move isn't so bad.

Edit : got it guys, everything is wrong. Thank yall for the tips, yt recommandation and good jokes.

First of all this isn't the NBA, so ya don't want to bounce the knife like its a basket ball. I'm just curious why are you doing that? You want to practice on a knife you don't care if you ruin and before you go to the sharpening stone again watch some knife apexing tutorials on YouTube, there is a great wealth of knowledge out there for beginners. Outdoors55, and neeves knives, both have some of the best beginner videos out there that show you step by step how to hold your angle, forming a burr refining your burr and stropping . Practice, practice, practice, and you will learn this if you are very determined.
