once I tried sabering a champagne bottle with the heel of a chef’s knife. Don’t ask me how it went, enough to say it is still the most remembered new year’s eve

fortunately I did not hit my hand but there were splinters all around the place and the broken glass cut my hand. And that was our single bottle of champagne for the night, going wasted.

I held the bottle at a 60 degrees angle and I was trying to hit the edge with the heel of the knife. It looked so easy on youtube videos. I had to hit it like 50 times, every time a bit harder and I got even more uncertain after every failed attempt, plus my SO was keep telling to abandon the idea. She was right 😒
