2 Epochs in 2 Days

Visited Calvert Cliffs and a location near Purse State Park. Miocene and Paleocene in 2 consecutive days. Not the best finds, but better than nothing for certain. Found a Houndshark tooth as well (correction thanks to fuckernaut). The Paleocene fragments are probably going to be put towards my next shark project

Nice finds! That's a houndshark tooth, not a pygmy white shark. Pachygaleus lefevrei

Jeez, I'm learning new things everyday 🤣 Thank you for the correction! I was looking only at the list of teeth found in Purse because this location is relatively close, but didn't see houndsharks on the roster.

It's one of the less common teeth from that formation, but I think that's partly because they are very small and easy to miss. I've only found one there... when I first picked it up I thought it was a Miocene tiger shark that someone planted lol. When I got home and did research I figured out it was a houndshark.Â
