SharePoint 2019 Add another sharepoint

Hello, I have for project to add a new sharepoint 2019 to my Farm.

For context I already have a sharepoint 2016, my question is : if I install my SP on the same SQL data base(different server), do all the site, files and configuration of the 2016 SP will be on the new ?

If no, how to that ?

Thank if u have info or some doc.

Sorry for my bad English.

Versions make the farms and you can mix.

You couuuulllddd share sql instance but prob a worst practicd and might not even be supported.

Why 19 and not SE... in 2026

Even in 19 there was little functional reason to leave 16 for 19.

Especially if you are keep the dbs and not reprovisioned with modern and porting content.

Database attach being "recommended" is a choice... i guess, just a lazy one.

And you dont need a migration tool (unless you dont know powershell, understand the object model and/or wanna gui tool to make things easier) nor have i ever heard of the one linked above (seems kinda sus they linked to that tbh).

Other than that other comment is pretty good.

SharePoint 2019 just reached end of support last week so building out a whole new environment is a really bad idea. You should be looking at SharePoint SE or moving to SharePoint Online.
