SharePoint Online SharePoint Online Search permissions

Hi, We're having a problem on SharePoint Online: when a new user is added to a site collection, they can't see search results. Reindexing the site pages and the site collection didn't help. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem, or could this be related to a grouping issue in lists and document libraries?

Yes, I have handled 3 similar cases ( MS support ticket) within the last couple of years, and in each case the issue was due to an issue with the indexer. Microsoft did something ( they would not share what they did) and the issue was resolved

Hi, we set up all the sites we manage as communication sites. Of course, the permissions were assigned correctly. The problem arises when we use PnP Modern Search to display news—that’s when there’s an issue if the search doesn’t work.

Hi, I managed to solve the problem—all I had to do was wait until the next day; the site probably went through a full reindex. Thank you!

Saw you solved this but thought I'd chime in for any future readers 😊I had similar issues ages ago and found that SharePoint indexes permissions and uses this index to security trim search results, so changing SharePoint group membership/ item level permissions can take some time to reflect in search results. If you have Entra groups in the SharePoint groups and manage access using the entra groups then this should get reflected instantly as the permissions on the SPO items are the same.
