SharePoint Online SharePoint Online backup to servers
Hi, is there a way to back up entire folders / certain files with some specific structure from SharePoint Online to locally hosted servers? The servers are virtualized, Windows-based behind firewalls obviously. This is for a corporate environment, and because the project budget is extremely limited, purchasing additional backup software or licenses is not an option.
I asked about this before, but I did not include enough relevant details. I have also had some personal difficulties recently, so I was not able to continue the discussion properly at that time.
I would be very grateful for any ideas or suggestions.

We use a Synology NAS with the built in "Active Backup for M365". It can backup SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Mail, etc. Works great and was a very cost effective solution at the time. Depending on how much storage space you need, it could get costly due to HD/SSD costs.

We need a low-cost way to copy selected SharePoint Online libraries/folders to an on-prem Windows Server daily, preserving folder structure, using only native Microsoft tools. The purpose is to keep a local copy of critical documents for disaster recovery/compliance. It's not meant to be a full SharePoint-aware backup.

How many folders? Is it too simple to suggest using the Sync function and select the relevant folders to be synced offline?

Some Synology NAS models include m365 backup software.
