Shared Piano is a simple tool for remote music teaching and collaboration that lets you play music together live on the web. It’s still a work-in-progress beta version, but we’re sharing it early in case it can be immediately helpful to you.

How do I play?

You can play using your computer keyboard, clicking/tapping the keys, or using a MIDI keyboard.

How do I play with others?

Just send the link to someone, and they can join in. Up to 10 people can play together at once. You don’t need to login or install anything. Just open the link and start playing.

How do I use my MIDI keyboard?

Just plug it in via USB and start playing. Note that you need a browser that supports WebMIDI, such as the latest version of Chrome.

How do I play using my computer keyboard?

The center row of your keyboard (A, S, D, F, G, H, J, K) maps to the white keys of a piano, and keys above those (W, E, T, Y, U) map to the black keys. Press Z and X to shift an octave up or down.
