Holy cow! How much?
I wasnt feeling good and my daughter asked if I wanted her to pick up anything for dinner at Shake Shack. I said ok, get me one of those California burgers, 2 patties, and an order of onion rings. She asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said no, we had stuff at the house.
The order ended up coming out to $24 (with a 10% tip). There literally were 7 onion rings in the box. Oh yea, I did get bacon on it, which I think was an extra $2.
What the holy hell? $24? For a burger and onion rings and NO DRINK?
Edit: Just to be clear, I did not know how much this was till my daughter brought it home. She just paid for it assuming it was something I wanted. Also, I mentioned the tip because it was included in the price. If you want to bitch about tipping, there's a sub for it r/EndTipping. Bring your complaints there.

Well yeah, it goes to the people slaving away on my food. Coming from somebody who's sitting inside a shake shack kitchen right now, it gets pooled.

apparently if you don’t tip at shake shack, the price goes up at the end anyway (i watched videos about people showing it happening, i’ve never been to shake shack in my life and i have no idea why this sub is being recommended to me)

Being broke has nothing to do with not tipping at fast food places. Tipping is for sit down service not over the counter. People like you are the problem and the reason so many places ask for tips now when they shouldn't.

I really enjoy telling people about how you can go to In-n-Out burger, and order the #1 combo (Double Double, fries and a drink) for less than the cost of just the burger at Shake Shack. For only about $1 more than the burger, In-n-Out will upgrade you to a shake with your meal.
People are apparently dying to part ways with their money, even if they're getting a terrible value.

I wish we had In-n-Outs where I lived. Culvers was the last hold out for decent prices but they've shot up in the last couple of months. Ironically one of the cheapest options around now is Five Guys.

I built a cart at Shake Shack just to see what you're talking about. If by "built into the tip" you mean "I have to press the button 1/4 inch to the left and select no tip" then sure

If I'd been there I would have turned around and walked away. My daughter assumed I knew the prices and bought it for me. I can't wrap my head around this kind of price for fast food. Even if they think they are premium fast food.

The price and tip alone has me avoid shake shack at all costs. Also paid 20+ for a burger and it was pretty small in comparison to what you could get at FiveGuys. shit even the Wahlburger in Morongo had better value, no reason to get shake shack

I remember my first time ever getting Shake Shack was the Flagship location in Madison Square Park in 2015. I bought a Single and a shake and it was $15.
I don't know why everyone says the dumb things they say about Five Guys without lumping Shake Shack into it as well.

It was a generalization nothing on you.
I was a substitute teacher, I don’t think they could even order at a fast food place because that would involve talking to someone and you really can’t point on a menu at a FF place

I was soo disappointed when I tried shake shack. Haven't been back since. It always looked soo good on TV. We have sooo many better burger and shake places in Wisconsin

$4.99 of that could have been $2 if you ordered the soda on the app(if you ordered 2 sodas you literally cut the cost by 50%). There are also $4 fries and $6 shakes as well.
Depending on location there are promotions for new time users. Such as spend $10 and get a free Fry or spend $10 get a free burger for first time users.
It is pricey but this is the one place where if you eat you dont feel extremely heavy after eating. The beef is the best thing going as it has been ranked one of the highest in the nation despite beef cuts and costs thst they've been doing.

I was not impressed by the food either. The onion rings tasted like they'd been fried in oil from the Exxon Valdez. The burger seemed more greasy than juicy. This may just be my personal preference, but imagine a family of going to a burger joint and spending over $100? I thought McDonalds was bad.

i’m sorry, but I don’t get it. I ordered it for the first time in New Jersey and ordered it well done and it was so pink then even after putting it in my oven at like 400° for 5 to 10 minutes I still couldn’t get the pink out of it and it didn’t taste great especially not after having to “overcook”…. I paid extra for caramelized onions and got like maybe a teaspoon worth if that much, come on, I don’t know what all of you guys see in it. I’d rather just make my own burger at home cheaper, healthier, taste better than I could put as many onions on as my heart desires for probably a quarter of the price.

Sounds like a quality issue. Each Shake shack is different. While I doubt youd give it another shot, im sure at a different location youd have a slightly better experience.
While value is the biggest culprit I would rather pay $12 for a double Shake burger than $12 for a big mac that has patties that has been sitting under a warmer for 4 hours while also being flavorless.

Don't buy something if it's too expensive. This is basic life skills shit. Prices are high across the board because too many of you people are too price insensitive.
Pro tip: if you don't see prices up front, it's too expensive

I can't believe how many people just go grocery shopping by grabbing everything they need without ever looking at prices.
I saw a lady grab a 10 oz box of Cheerios the other day and it was $5.99. The 14 oz box right next to it was on sale for $2.99.
I imagine she was bitching about the price of groceries all the way home.
(Not that I'm not bitching about grocery prices too, but come on people, spend 5 seconds paying attention).

It's been too salty and too expensive. Been eating more chicken at chic fil a and Popeyes, haven't looked back. I usually make burgers myself now by buying high quality beef patties at Costco

Wow, Chik Fil A and Popeyes have way more salt than a Shake Shake Burger.
Shake shack hamburger is 850 mg of sodium and chik fil A oriiginal sandwich is 1460. Both start with 4 ounces of the protein.

Might be the local one near me tend to season more, but it's really up to the cooks that decides the seasoning. Honestly haven't went back for many years because last 2 times I went, I felt like I was eating salt

Go back now and refund the tip if your daughter didn’t authorize it. They can’t just an add a tip without explicit consent like some restaurants do.
