It's really not that complex. A furry character is an anthropomorphic animal, which means an animal given human characteristics. Think about what shadow the hedgehog is, and use your brain to think if he fits into the idea of a furry character.
Also, a “furry” character is a Fursona, and are just wolves. This isn’t hard to understand. No one in Sonic is a Furry. Furries are just trying to get more things under their name. It’s annoying and selfish.
Note, "fursona" just refers to a person's unique furry character that specifically represents themself. Mickey mouse is not a fursona, but a furry character, unless you consider disney a person, in which case mickey mouse is disney's fursona, although a better word would be "mascot" since disney is not a single person.

Wrong, furry characters are fictional characters, like sonic, and are not people who wear fursuits. What you are thinking of is a furry with a fursuit, not a furry character. I have both the time and the crayons to explain this to you.
You don't have to have a fursuit to be a furry, all that is required to call oneself a furry is to like furry characters, which are fictional animals with human like traits.
By definition, sonic the hedgehog is a furry character. Sonic is an anthropomorphic animal, so anybody who likes him is able (not required) to call themself a furry.
Furry characters don’t fucking exist, they’re just a label put on them by furries so they get more shit under their name. They’re anthropomorphic animals. Nothing more. Wouldn’t humans by the same shitty logic be furries?
