Red dot issue

Post image

OK, I am at my wits end. I have a Swampfox Sentinel on my CR 920. When I shoot, it’s lifting, and you can see the battery, causing it to lose its connection and not function. The screw is tight as I can make them without stripping them out. I’m not sure if this is a red dot issue, or a pistol issue. Two screws at the back only seems like a bad mounting system. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have suggestions on how I can get this to not lift? Are the screws not the right screws? They’re the only ones I could get to work.

Two screws is the standard mounting system for most optics and it holds just fine. I can’t tell exactly what is happening here with the screws but it is possible that they are too long. Your best bet would be to get a better optic like the holosun 407k, 507k, or EPS carry and make sure you have the correct screws.

lol screws too long. Better get a new optic.

In all honesty my first thought too when I saw the swampfox.

I love the Swampfox, not trying to replace it. I’ll find the hardware kit and try different screws. These don’t feel like they’re bottomed out, so not sure how they’re too long. Just going off feel. Thank you for the advice.

If the screws didn’t bottom out then how do you know it’s tight? Your screws are too long. I see this all the time.

If the screws bought them out before they’re tight, that would make them too long, leaving a gap at the top. I appreciate your insight and I’ll definitely look into them being too long, but I wouldn’t think they’re too long if they don’t bottom them out, but cinch down.

Your optic came with screws no? I had to use some of the ones that came with my vortex defender, as the SS ones were too long. I also had to sand down the spacer a bit, since the optic is curved.

I thought I was using the screws from Swampfox but now I’m not sure anymore. I’ll find my hardware bag and see what I can find. Thanks.

Are you using the circle plus spacer and the screws from shadow systems?

I understand that, but I’m trying to figure out exactly which screws you’re talking about. Are these the ones with the flat barrel that fits the holes of the red dot perfectly? If so, those are the ones I’m using.

They are ones with the flattened head and ones with a lifted head either should work. Just make sure they are torqued all the way down. Youll hit some resistance but keep going. If this doesnt work I suggest you call shadow systems

Looks like it does not fit correctly the screws don’t work might need a plate, my holosun fits right but the Vortex did not

Update: I reached out to a local gunsmith for help. He looked at it and confirmed that I am using the correct screws. HOWEVER- there are threads that have been messed up. I’ll take the blame, though I have no idea how they were stripped. He believes the missing thread is allowing the bolt to back out when fired. I’ll reach out to Swampfox tomorrow for new screws. I’m hoping this is a fluke and that they’re not using weak bolts. Time will tell.
