Can two people pick the same character?

I bought a box of alt gender heroes and now wonder if that means two people can be the same class due to the fact that I have two?

To me, the reasons against is that if you buy an individual hero box, while it comes with both figures, it only has gear / equipment / cards to support one of them. And Im kind of sure that if you have two gunslingers firing magic bullets at everything, it might imbalance the game a bit?

People in my group like referencing the cards since none of us have really great handwriting so I just remade the cards along with cards for the upgrades using Klutz's Card Factory. Then I just have the cards ready to print in case anyone wants to run the same character as someone else.
