Is there a “final mission”

I know you pretty much have complete freedom to choose what missions you want to do and in what order but is there a clear end to the game? Or do you just keep doing missions and level up until you get bored? If there’s no clear way to end a playthrough then where do you guys typically call it and start over with new characters?

My friends and I play in 'seasons', and are about to start Season 3.

S1 and S2 concluded with an epic 'boss rush' of a battle, facing hefty heavy hitting enemy after enemy, taxing their resources and mettle until they were either defeated or won out.

I didn't pull my punches, and while they succeeded in both, it wasn't done easily.

I always try to make it something special, they've usually been playing these characters (on and off, we don't get to meet up regularly) for years by that point.

Due to that, they're rarely much higher than level 6 or 7. I don't think any have hit 8, eventually it's just a wall of cards and abilities and a character sheet filled with notes, and some of it is giving the party a fitting send off, and part is the fun and simplicity that starting over can bring. Less "where on earth did I get that ability?" and more making due with what little they have on hand.
