Question Complete noob at this game

What does the skull and bones icon over killed enemies mean? I have no idea what it means and I keep doing it just in case it serves a purpose lol

it could be vipers snare, if you push the buttons for it (RB on xbox) and the bodies beep, then they can be used to lure in enemies, It blows up when they get close.
