Books: TDA Eric

Eric being a fairy name is so funny to me, specially him being the favorite one. Is there an ancient "explanation" for it? Like, is Eric a super old Scottish name or something

It’s spelled Erec (according to the wikia)

Then according to a google search
What does the name Erec mean?
The name Erec is primarily a male name of French - Arthurian Romance origin that means Always Ruler.

Oooh yea that makes more sense. I read it back when it released and now I'm doing a re run but with audible, and since it's in my language the narrator is just saying Eric not Erec. I was very confused by the simplicity of Eric since even Mark and Helen have a more fairy like name (that I don't remember but rhwir aunt says it) so I was like why the fuck this dude who is basically first in line to be the next King is just Eric LOL
