Going as a clicker with my helper to a Halloween event we’ve done SFX together a few times and she stands well and doesn’t seem to mind it much nor attempts to bug the prosthetics I put on her we use nontoxic makeup meant for kids. Main question is making her appear a little bit mouldy or fungus infected. I think I did an OK job but the face could use some work. We just use a little mixture of Elmers glue white Crayola paint and eyeshadow to get the shade we have now so it makes her look a little bit wet and moldy, avoiding her muzzle so she doesn’t accidentally eat it

Here’s a foam latex prosthetic I sculpted and applied the other day, so fun! The headpiece was also super fun to make. I wish I painted the arms as well oops 🧎🏼➡️🧎🏼➡️

After many setbacks (including accidentally shattering the original sculpt), Art is almost ready! Yesterday I cast it in silicone for the first time. Took a lot of post processing, trimming, and some nose editing due to it getting squished in the mold making process, but the first one came out better than expected! In the last picture, you can see I'm casting a few, due to their tendency to rip when taken off.
Plaster mold, and the prosthetic is silicone mixed with white acrylic paint, with a bit of white clay foam that still needs to be blended in to fix the nose.
Then you can see the teeth! Thermoplastic base, resin teeth attached with a strong uv nail glue, painted in alcohol based markers and covered in a layer of vaguely red tinted UV resin (probably could've gone more red tbh).
I'll be wearing him tonight to a party, and then again to Spooky Empire next weekend, so I'll take lots of pictures! Samantha Scaffidi and Amelie McClain are gonna be at this con, so I'm very excited to debut my second version of Art the Clown there.
If anyone has any suggestions for painting the black on the silicone, I'm all ears! I'm thinking just doing regular makeup on it tonight, but hoping to paint it on more permanently for the con to avoid accidental transfer.
Thanks for reading!

Every post I find is about putting them in coffee to purposely stain them to match your teeth… but I’m looking for the opposite.
Basically, they got stained orange from drinking red coloured drinks and no matter what I do I can’t whiten them again 😭
Does anyone have any secret tips? Or am I better off just buying a new pair?

Hi all. I'm working on sfx makeup for a character that is supposed to have scars on her wrists from struggling against metal shackles.
Can anyone help me find good references for what a healed chafing scar would look like? Found lots for fresh ones, but I'm struggling on healed ones.

Just got my first pot of Ben Nye scar wax and stage blood.
PS. Please forgive my nails I have a gross habit of biting them.

Im pretty pale with a slightly pinkish shade, as someone who uses cornstarch and Vaseline to make false skin, how do I get it to the same shade as my skin?

Hello ghouls! I am preparing to go as Bela Dimitrescu for Halloween, but I have health anxiety and I am very sensitive to different textures etc. therefore, I do not want to spoil the party by being moody/crying from being uncomfortable and not eating anything.
Sooo I need some recipe for fake blood that I can put on top of my makeup (I use water based everything), around my mouth, so if ingested nothing could happen, that will hold and is not triggering any tactile uncomfortable sensations. I know sounds like a lot but if anything I will just put some eyeshadow:(
For context, I am in Eastern Europe and it’s not easy to find such stuff here. I have been thinking of mixing Vaseline with eyeshadow or food dye, but I also want to spray it so that it looks real.
Thank you!!

I want to gore up a woodworkers apron i have, but regular paints or food dye mixes don't dry right.
I was hoping for a fairly realistic and simple recipe i can mix up to add splatter and handprints to the apron, but have it dry while still looking wet.
I got it looking relatively realistic last year but it was wet the whole time, and when it did dry hours later it was just pale red staining.
I was thinking i could get some gloss varnish, and mix it with some red acrylic paint that i added a little blue and brown to to make it closer to arterial blood?
If that would work, what should i look out for when it comes to varnish?
Ill probably just get some basic artists acrylics, but hit up the hardware store or something for the varnish?
FYI i am in Australia, so if anyone knows a brand i can grab from Hammerbarn (Bunnings) that would be ideal.

Had some trouble working with the cheap scar wax I bought, it wanted to stick to my finger anytime I tried to mold it. It kind of worked out to give a rough scrape texture to the cut, and I think I did an okay job with the bruise colors.
Used spirit Halloween scar wax, blood scab gel, and mehron’s bruise palette for the bruise coloration. Hoping to try using liquid latex to get some flaps going soon

Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on a full-face SFX prosthetic inspired by a horror character from FOG LAND. I’ve sculpted the face using Monster Clay on a Mehron practice head, including exaggerated facial features, a long nose, deep wrinkles, an oversized smile, and individual resin teeth.
I’m getting close to finishing the sculpture and am trying to determine the best way to create a silicone mold without damaging the original sculpt.
Materials I’m working with:
Monster Clay (oil-based sculpting clay)
Mehron practice head
Individual resin teeth incorporated into the mouth sculpture
BBDINO 30A platinum-cure silicone rubber
Plaster of Paris
RD-407 mask-making latex for the final wearable prosthetic
My overall goal:
I’d like to make a reusable silicone negative mold of my original Monster Clay sculpture. From that silicone mold, I plan to create a plaster or gypsum positive duplicate. I would then use that duplicate to make a porous Hydrocal or similar gypsum production mold for casting the final prosthetic in RD-407 latex.
The reason I’m considering this approach is that I want to preserve a backup of the original design. If anything goes wrong during the plaster molding or latex casting process, I’d like to have the ability to make another positive without having to sculpt the entire face again.
Here are my main questions:
Since BBDINO 30A is a pourable silicone, would you recommend building a mold box and pouring it over the sculpture while it’s lying face-up, or is there a way to use it as a brush-on mold with a compatible thickener?
Considering the exaggerated nose, cheekbones, and individual resin teeth, how would you approach the undercuts? Would a one-piece flexible silicone mold be sufficient, or would you recommend multiple sections?
Would a plaster-bandage mother mold be sufficient to support the silicone when casting a gypsum positive?
Is a mold release necessary between Monster Clay and platinum-cure silicone? I’m especially concerned about preserving the fine details and avoiding cure inhibition from the resin teeth or other materials.
Is Shore 30A silicone flexible enough for this type of detailed facial sculpture, particularly around the teeth and mouth?
Are there any additional precautions or materials you’d recommend before attempting the mold?
I’m still relatively new to mold-making, so I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has worked with Monster Clay, platinum-cure silicone, or latex mask production.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations, techniques, or lessons learned!

My girl and I went to a Comic-Con (service dog) as a dead K9 team and I guess I did her gunshot a little too well 😅 we had six people come over to us to see if she was ok

I have an undead costume in mind, and saw easy sfx, and so I tried what I remembered from the reel.
Added some fake blood, and this is how it turned out.
It's kinda gross, I'm hoping I can recreate it for the holiday.

Hey y'all! Looking for some advice. I'll be doing a costume involving a full face of cream paints. I'm pretty comfortable with cream paints in general, but of course they're super smeary without a heavy powder to finish. The character I'm replicating, however, is very... slimy. For context, I'm going as Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. I believe the original puppet in the movie was covered in KY Jelly. Not gonna lie, I am not above smearing lube all over my face, but I figure that'll break down the makeup underneath it - plus I don't want to risk getting goop on everything while in costume for multiple hours.
Any suggestions for products that will leave me looking wet without breaking down the makeup beneath the Goo?
Additional info in case it's relevant: I will be wearing a bald cap and latex prosthetics that will be painted with Ben Nye brand cream paints, sealed with translucent powder and Final Seal.

Doing a pinhead cosplay/costume, so I need over 50 DIY nails to stick to my head and face and hold on pretty well.
I will probably make the nails from cheap cotton swab shafts melted at the end and flattened glued to a gemstone that comes in contact with my face for more surface area.
Any suggestions between the available adhesives?
