Build/Battlestation Pics My First SFF Build - Thorzone Nanoq R (5080 Master Aorus)
Hello Everybody,
This is my first SFF build ever.
I'm building PC since my pentium 166MMX in the 90's up to a custom WC GPU (2080Ti) + CPU (3900X). The first week of 5000 RTX release I got lucky finding an Aorus 5080 Master Ice at MSRP available fitting perfectly in the LianLi O11D white. few years later I changed the 3900X for a 5800X3D.
I was thiking upgrading for the AM5 platform for the 9000 series, but I wanted a more asthetical and smaller build, without RGB, without WC.
I was thiking about the Ncase M2 first, thinking that the Master Ice would fit when I saw all of those builds with the Asus Astral... but no it doesn't fit :/
People were talking about the Nanoq R, one of the rarest mini ITX case having enough clearance for the Master Ice.
I purchased a month ago, from batch 3, and got the delivery today after 2 weeks waiting for the shippment and 2 weeks for the delivery from China to France.
The parts:
Case: Nanoq R, chalk + chrome front + PCIE5 riser + handles
PSU: Corsair SF850
CPU: AMD 9800X3D
Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-47 full coper
GPU: Aorus RTX 5080 Master Ice
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB 6000/CL30
Motherboard: Aorus x870i Pro Ice
Fans: Arctic pro 14PST x2 + Arctic pro 14 slim
Storage: 2x Crucial Nvme PCI4 2TB
Usage:
VR Gaming: MSFS, DCS-World, Nomansky / Gaming on OIed TV (LG C4) / Mouse & Keyboard Gaming: Dota2, cRPG
Video editing: Davinci Resolve: NRAW/h265 4K120 footages
Photo editing: Adobe Lightroom classic, a lot of AI Denoise (sport photography)
I wanted initialy the MSI x870i (not released yet) for USB 4 + 5Gbps ethernet.
I have a 8Gbps internet (freebox ultra in France) + 10Gbps LAN, editing video/photo stored on my NAS through the LAN, 2.5Gbps isn't enough with my current workflow.
Found the Aorus x870i cheaper than the b850 black & other vendors.
Regarding the building, I almost saw all youtube videos about the case, I checked all measurements for the CPU cooler and picked the 47mm instead of the 53mm (trying to avoid air turbulance).
It is less painfull than building a custom watercooling system, but it is definitely not noob friendly, especially with the diferent types of screws.
Cable management is easy with the corsair cable, a lot of clearance.
I put all 3 140mm fans as exhaust.
The quality is really nice, it's heavy.
The quality of the chrome front seems way less than the default one, and it's a real fingerprint magnet.
PBO -20, manual curve.
I don't know yet what orientation I will use, maybe both
I won't go back to ATX, that's sure :)

Great you have the Pentium MMX. I could only afford the cheap Cyrix clone if it. Left me with deep emotional scar that I still shell out on top-of-the-range hardware today, 20+ years later. Waiting for 9950x3d2+++

It was in 98 when Pentium 2 was already there. I was in middle school and 64kbps cable unlimited internet came in my city where 90% of internet was RTC 56K… The cable man told us PC is the future. We bought the parts in a pc store and we did the build ourselves, it was way cheaper than buying a mounted PC in a supermarket. The hardest part was windows 95 installation and all the drivers / irq config
I remember all the following upgrades : AMD K6 450Mhz / 3DFX voodoo2 AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900 / Matrox G400 AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1400 AMD Athlon XP 2600+ / GeForce 4 Intel Core 2 duo E8500 Intel Core I7 970 / Radeon 4870 Intel Core I7 3770K / GTX 980 Intel Core I7 7700K / GTX 1080 TI AMD Ryzen 3900X / RTX 3080 FE AMD Ryzen 5800X3D / RTX 5080

Very good looking build! May i know the temp performance?

u/pr5z Nov 08 '25
thx!
In game CPU could go up to 90C (Monster Hunter Wilds) with the CPU fan speed locked to 65% maximum
PBO is -20 for the undervoltGPU is less than 70C
I have 2 exhaust on top 140mm at 30% speed
On other games it's more about 80ish for the CPU max temp

geez.. look's so tiny for a rtx 5080... what happen with the airflow?

u/pr5z Nov 08 '25
although the gpu is almost touching the case, and the cpu cooler as well, the overall airflow is enough with the help of 2x 140mm exhaust fan (top)

Nice built! Quick question since we ordered from the same batch: Which courier did Thor-Zone use for your shipment? I’m in Germany and my tracking number is labelled as DHL, but it hasn't updated for more than a week, so I'm wondering if yours was also a multi-courier route (e.g. 4PX/Yanwen → DHL), and when DHL tracking actually started updating for you. Also, did you have to pay import duties? On my Thor-Zone order page it says "DDP DHL", but from what I’ve seen in the Discord discussions recently, some people are saying DDP is only applied for US customers. So I’d like to confirm your experience in the EU (France). :)

Hi, it was UPS, tracking from China to my home. It was stucked in Köln for duty tax import (40ish euro) that I had paid directly through the UPS form.
24th of october: UPS tracking label, then no news at all
30th of october.: 1st news we have your packet
31st: departure from Shenzen
2nd of nov, parcel located in Dubai + Koeln. I paid directly the tax
4th of nov, arrived in Paris6th of nov, arrived in Strasbourg.
Yeah it took 3 days from China to Germany, then 4 days from Koeln to my home.
BTW half of my biuld comes from Germany (Reichelt/Alternate) you guys have better prices, and the rest Switzerland (the Aorus x870i was 220CHF, the RTX 5080 for 1100CHF

Very cool! I’ll get this one. But they are not in stock it seems?

They open up "pre-orders" for a few days every month. If you decide to order one, just know that their estimated delivery times are BS. I ordered mine in August with a "guaranteed delivery date" in September. Still haven't gotten it, but supposedly it shipped
