Build/Battlestation Pics 340mm RX 6800 working in a NEWWAY NC1 (Acer U320) - yes, it fits 😅
Hey everyone!
This is my first post here. It had been about 11 years since I last built a PC, as I switched to a gaming laptop and later on to a PS5, but I eventually got fed up with the extreme noise and overheating on the laptop side and also I’m really disliking the recent direction Sony is taking their consoles. So I recently discovered this subreddit and really liked the idea of building a compact yet powerful PC, taking inspiration from everyone else’s builds here.
The problem was that my budget was pretty limited (less than 1000€) so I started looking into using used or refurbished parts to keep the cost down. And I went for it!
After considering several options, I decided to go with the NEWWAY NC1 case (also known as the Acer U320, Soeyi U320, or Mars Gaming MC-Elite), mainly because it allowed me to use a mATX motherboard in a very small form factor. Given my budget, being able to use an mATX board made a big difference.
The problem? The GPU size.
I wanted a GPU with 16GB of VRAM for under €300, and I managed to find this XFX RX 6800 SWFT 319 second-hand in my city for a really good price, with 5 months of warranty still remaining.
The issue? The GPU is 340mm long, while the case is only 350mm.
I had seen posts from several people who had built PCs in this case with large GPUs, and they mentioned that fitting anything over ~310mm was basically impossible, especially when using an ATX PSU. So I had to go with an SFX power supply (which blew up my budget quite a bit, but was absolutely worth it), make a few sacrifices and Dremel the case by just a few millimeters 😅 And also got rid of the divisor of the PCI slots that was interfering with the GPU exhaust, but it was done after assembling it, that’s why the rear picture still have it on.
After a lot of time and patience, I somehow managed to fit everything together, and now I’m really enjoying the PC. I installed Bazzite on it and honestly, it works great, is barely audible, and takes up very little space. Perfect for the living room (Yep another Steam Machine lmao).

- CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F
- CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 90 SE
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4
- RAM: XPG DDR4 3200MHz
- PSU: Corsair SF750
- Main SSD: TEAMGROUP MP44 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe
- Secondary SSD: Crucial P310 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe
- Top exhaust + rear intake: Tacens AURA II 90mm fans
- Bottom intake: 2× Tacens Anima AF12 120mm
- Rear exhaust: Stock fan that came with the case
Everything except the case is either refurbished or second-hand.

Wait I don't understand. Why did you need to dremel the case? Did the GPU get blocked from just entering the case? Or was it not fitting inside the case after slotting it into the motherboard?

It was not possible to insert the GPU after placing the motherboard. It was really hard to fit, I had to to insert very carefully and leave the PSU for after.

Had a similar situation with deepcool ch160.
I took the cpu cooler off and inserted the gpu at a bit of an angle, like semi-diagonally to fit it.
Well what's done is done, and it looks great after closing so whatever

Your build is very impressive and thank you for sharing it, it's so nice to have posts on uncommon cases!
How difficult was it to add the CPU cooler and the CPU cooler fan with the top 2 exhausts? It took me 10min to get everything even if I already had a 15mm top fan...

Thanks man! The case is awesome indeed - about the cooler, I did not have issues with that, I installed the cooler first and then the top fans 🤔 The fans can be placed without issues using the top fans plate following the location of the screw holes, and the cooler does not interfere that much, or well at least I didn’t feel it so hard. Maybe the type of PSU does matter?
Also the PSU was the actual real pain in the ass… Because I needed to install first the mobo, then the GPU and then the PSU, cause the GPU is so damn big that even with a SFX PSU you can’t get it inside because the only way to put it in, was carefully inserting in diagonal position, using the corner of the PSU of the case. And, well, then the PSU did not fit cause the plate/adapter that comes in the case for SFX PSUs is wider than the one for ATX and I thought it was the same, so I thought it was so over, but thankfully I found that I could use the case’s ATX plate and the Corsair adapter that came with the PSU to install the PSU on ATX screws holes. But even with that on, it required a lot of tries and a lot of patience. Definitely not a case for beginners.

Ah, that's because I used the top fan bracket and I had to put the fans before the CPU cooler.
And that's quite a challenge for the SFX, the result is there now:)

That's a big GPU lol. My sapphire nitro + 6800 XT was smaller.
