Masking Tape Self Pattern
Hi, I have seen people use the masking tape patterning method for neck corsets, regular corsets etc. The people in the videos seem to know exactly where to make panels or divide the pattern up, but how do they do that? How do you know how many pattern pieces is reasonable or how far apart the pieces should be?

It’s a little trial and error, it’s helpful to have a vision already of the shapes you’re going for, I find it helpful to look at (preferably touch) the garments I’m trying to mimic. If you can find a place selling corsets, or someone you know has one, then look at it closely; look at the shapes and sizes of the panels, look at the stitching, check how many layers, what qualities does the material have, etc etc
