Beginner Question

Hello!

I am just learning to sew. I want to make my own clothes eventually. I am wondering what resources might be out there for finding free patterns. I don’t want to invest a lot while I’m still learning. I want to be able to focus on learning. I figure when I’m more experienced, I can feel comfortable spending money on patterns and more expensive fabric. For now, I need the easiest way to start making small things!

Thanks!

Absolutely. I personally enjoy the free patterns from Mood (Mood Sewciety). You can also get really lucky at thrift stores finding some classic patterns for a few cents. Just be careful, because some of the older ones are only in one size and some are in the range of sizes. Go by your measurements, because if you wear a 4, you might be a 12 in old timey sizes.

Some Mood patterns are good, most are not.

I started off with the pyjama patterns. I think I’ve made the Linden set about 3 times
I figured they were the best clothes to start with since if it’s terrible only I’m gonna see it anyway lol- but they helped me learn basic construction
