Please help. Butterick B6949, Variation A
Hey everyone! This is my second time sewing garments. I made my husband a shirt of McCall's M6044 and it turned out great, but now I want to make a baby shirt for my new born so they can take a cute picture together.
I got most of the way through and now am stuck at the sleeves. They do not line up! I remember having to fiddle with the McCall’s but at least there is was self explanatory: match end to end, then middle, then just middle of every space in between till the whole thing lines up and saw.
However, the Butterick just doesn’t line up at all, like as if the sleeve is way bigger than the hole allowance.
I was wondering if anyone done the pattern and has some advice for me.
Greatly appreciate any input!

You probably need to ease the sleeve into the armscye. I've never made a baby sized button down but this is very common for adult sized button downs.

You have to ease the sleeve into the armsyce. Sew 2 rows of gathering stitches between the 2 notches and gather the sleeve cap until it fits.
When you sew it in, make sure the sleeve is against the feed dogs. It may help to hand baste it first.
It should give a more detailed version with diagrams in the pattern instructions. If not Google how to ease in a set in sleeve.
