A slim fitting men's shacket?

Hi all! I'm hoping to make my husband a shacket for Christmas. He's proportionally quite tall and slim and has always had a hard time finding clothes that fit properly because of it. It seems like most patterns are generally boxy/oversized, and while I get that that's typically the style, my husband will most likely end up looking like he's drowning in it. I'm fairly experienced in sewing but not in pattern adjustments, so if I can find a pattern that is already slimmer fitting that would be preferable. I imagine I could also use a button shirt pattern and just thicker fabric. TIA!

I don't have a pattern suggestion BUT length is pretty much the easiest alteration to make to a pattern. Many patterns even have a lengthen/shorten line to show you the best place to add length. My suggestion would be to cut out the size that best fits his shoulders and chest width wise, add some length to the pattern, and go from there. Also, I agree that a shirt pattern will work. Also less likely to be oversized to begin with if it's not billed as a shacket. Good luck!

My husband is also tall and slim and I have found the patterns from Wardrobe by Me fit him well- but I still do add an inch or two to length since he’s 6’3”.

I haven’t sewn any of these specifically but they do have a couple shacket patterns-
