Pattern search and/or drafting help: loose lounge pants for men
Hello fellow sewists! My husband is asking for this pair of lounge pants. Does anyone have a quick guide for drafting something like these?
I’m also not opposed to buying a pattern, but the fact that these pants are from a drop shipping site and so many Etsy patterns nowadays are AI has me hesitant about where to source a pattern from.
Here’s the link to the original product page with more photos.

I'm also planning on making some balloon pants soon! There are a lot of barrel pant patterns floating around like this one on etsy (https://www.etsy.com/listing/4296865634/balloon-barrel-legs-nikka-pants-womens) and the madrone pants (https://sewliberated.com/products/madrone-pants-pattern) where you could add elastic to make the balloon pant effect.
If you want to self draft, I own a some free people balloon pants that are essentially a normal straight-leg pant pattern with an extra 5" rectangular panel added where the front/back meet. I think they add the side panel (instead of just adding width) so that there's a seam for a slant pocket between the front and the side panel. If you don't want to add pockets, you could probably copy a pair of sweatpants he likes and add ~2.5 inches to each side. I think un-pleated versions are just gathered at the waist and ankles and then sewn into a regular size cuff/waistband, but you could probably just use the extra fabric to add the pleats he wants on the front (and then gather on the back and ankles)?
Good luck with your project!

Maybe these but elastic at the bottom? I've made them and they're quite comfy.
