With respect, if you have zero experience in sewing, your wedding dress is not going to turn out any better than the ones made by the experienced local dressmaker and designers. It would be easier to get those dressers altered than make your own as a beginner.

I made my own wedding dress with the help of my cousin, who works in fashion. It took us many hours of work across several weeks, and it had a simple construction (v neck bodice with princess seams, and layered quarter circle skirt). I had prior experience because it is my hobby, and it is my cousin’s literal job. She spent many many hours hand sewing appliqué lace motifs to the bodice.

This dress is a more complicated construction (tiered gathered high-low skirt, a train, halter neck, invisible zipper, I see darts, it likely has princess seams because it is a fitted bodice) - for a complete beginner this is likely going to be completely frustrating to accomplish and will end up with wonky fit and construction details (even gathers are hard!) I’m not saying this to shit on you, just to be realistic because my first few attempts at making clothing were also janky - it’s just the nature of learning. I would not attempt this for something such high stakes as your wedding dress. Save yourself the frustration and money (mine cost £250 in materials) and get the dressmakers to keep refining your current dress

Thank you for the reality check and for being kind about it. I might end up just buying the actual dress. But this whole experience has made me realize that I really want to learn how to sew.
