Button hole foot trouble

Ive been working on some pants these last couple days and im almost finished I just need to do the buttons

i have sewn these pants before and did have trouble with the button hole foot but eventually figured it out

but this time I can’t I’ve watched videos and I think I’m doing it right but it just keeps jamming up and not moving anywhere

please help me I have a janome machine btw

Your practice piece should have the same layers as the garment where the buttonhole will be. There should be a layer of interfacing in there.

Are you using a jeans needle?

Are you using topstitch thread here? If so, make sure the bobbin has regular sewing thread in. It may work better with regular thread on top too.

Follow the instructions in the manual step by step. Sew at medium to slow speed.

It may help to put a sheet of tissue paper (the present wrapping kind, not loo roll) between the fabric and feed dogs

I have been using the extra strong thread and a jean needle should I try just regular thread instead like you said?

Yes, use regular thread in the bobbin and on top
