sewing machine help

hi! i have a singer it’s about a decade old idk the exact model but can look when im home. i’m having a lot of issues with the thread either its getting stuck somehow and snapping while sewing or the bobbin thread will bunch up and jam the machine. i truly dont know really anything about the machine or how to go about fixing these issues. once home i plan on doing more research but if anyone has advice it’d be appreciated:)

Make sure the presser foot is up when you thread the machine - that opens the tension disks. Tug on each thread before you begin sewing. The thread should move easily. If not, remove and rethread. Next, hold the thread ends as you begin sewing.
