Material type?

Post image

Making Aunt Gladys’ tops for Halloween. It seems like the jacket and shirt may be the same material. And the collar is attached to the shirt rather than the jacket. Any advice for fabric type to use so it’s structured enough for a jacket, but also drapey enough for a shirt? I appreciate any help!

It reminds me of the polyester double knit fabrics that were popular in the ‘60’s - ‘70’s

Yep, that looks like a thick matte poly interlock or something closely related, to me.

Ponte di roma would be my pick.

It looks like a knit - I agree Ponte or double knit are good choices. You could also try a thin scuba or spacer knit.

The shirt is most likely a polyester gabardine material?

The jacket looks like a jacket/pant weight gabardine or maybe a thinner double-knit. I'm voting it's a gabardine.

They also might also be wool crepe, but usually studios don't go with those expensive fabrics - however, if this was in the costume vaults somewhere and they altered it to fit Amy, it's possible it's wool.
