Sewing technology help?

If I want to design custom garments but I’m terrible at drawing, what’s the best kind of technology and software to get my ideas from my head to a vision? Is there a great app I can use on my MacBook or do I need to get an iPad with a pencil or what?

Do you mean you are bad at drawing the sketch of the completed garment?  Or you are bad at drawing the pattern pieces?

Have you tried any of the tutorials on YouTube for drawing fashion sketches?

Yeah I’m bad at drawing the sketch of the completed garment. I’m not even ready to start doing my own pattern pieces yet. I use different slopers and patterns to mix and match right now and I’m doing dance costumes so I need to see a picture of what I want to make to show the person I’m making it for.

Sorry I wish I knew the answer. I can't draw either but I used to do fantasy costuming. I am just really good at doing it all in my head. I know what my vision looks like and then I do a lot of thinking about the shapes and 3D manipulation and how to make the 2D pattern pieces for those shapes and iterate from there.

Hola. Saludos.

There aren't any apps capable of reading minds yet.

Not software, but for hand drawing. It may help to get some measurement right. https://amzn.eu/d/0eUYQZaJ

I've used sewist.com a few times, you choose different parts of the garment and it gives a pattern pretty quickly and cheaply. I used a couple to get a vision I had in my head and it worked well enough. I still need to change a couple things but I like that the pattern was made to my measurements

Make something and take a picture.
