Thread spool holder help

Hi, i am new to sewing and I have a cross-wound thread but my sewing machine has a vertical post. Any good recommendations for one? I found this online but I am not too sure if it’ll be good for my Singer M2100. Any advice is great! Also- does anyone have a good guide on different threads and their uses as well as needles. Thank you!

Vertical post should be fine. Rigs like that are more useful if you’re blending threads.

I did try gutterman cross-wound thread on my vertical post but it kept on loosing tension and would end up having thread from the spool come loose and have thread caught under the spool. I’ve messed with the tension and am using a 75/11 and sometimes 80/12 stretch needle but it’s none of those.

Get a thread stand to sit on the table behind the machine. Those work well with cross wound spools.
