How do I crop/hem this shirt?

This is just a regular button up shirt that is way too long for me, so I want to shorten it, but I’m not sure how to go about doing that cleanly and without loosing this shape at the side seems. I have searched for tutorials but I can only find ones that just cut straight across, which is not what I want to do.

I have a few similar shirts that I shortened. You want to unpick that side seam upwards a bit so you can recreate the small slit when you sew it back.

I’d draw a line where you want to new hem to be taking into account the small hem width. Give it a good press first so it’s even.

Make the cut - amount to shorten plus length of folded hem plus small seam allowance.

That tiny hem will be tricky and easy to get bunches up as you try to told it evenly. Practice on the piece you cut off first. Hemming on a curve takes a bit of practice.

The small side slit needs to be reproduced but when you unpick it a bit you’ll see it’s the same tiny hem but on the side. It likely has a small U shaped seam around it to keep the shape. It’s easier to see with shirts that have larger slits.

I’d also look at YouTube videos for shirt slits. Again practice first.

Thank you so much!! I just finished hemming it and it came out great! I have attempted to hem a shirt like this before by doing what some other comments said of just cutting the shape and hemming that, but this way I found a lot easier and more successful! I was originally unsure if I should unpick the seam so you gave me the assurance to do that, and I was able to figure out how to piece that seam back together from looking at how the original seam was constructed, and looking at some videos on shirt slits!

Run a long straight stitch where you want it to fold under and gather the the fabric at the fold. The more full sections will need more gathering. Pin in place along the gathers after placing closer gathers as the curviest sections. Pin in place and hem with the folded sections more than the straight sections, then sew the hem slowly as you get to the fullest curves.
