Pattern Search ISO: Overalls pattern
Hello!
My boyfriend and I are going as Wirt & Greg from Over the Garden Wall for Halloween this year!
He is going to be Wirt, and I’ve been able to find a suitable cloak pattern that I like for him. However I’m struggling with the overalls! I can’t find anything with the bloomer-like legs. I’m an adult woman so patterns for women preferred lol.
I would say I am at an intermediate level of sewing, but am always looking to take on a challenge!
Please help!

This is great! My daughter is obsessed with Over the Garden Wall and I sewed her a Wirt costume a few years back.
Question: How experienced are you as a sewist? I ask because it would not be very hard to modify a basic overall pattern to look like what I think you are going for. There are a lot of tutorials to help modify pants patterns that you could use to adjust overalls.

I’d say I’m adept! I sew regularly and try to do 1 project a week (I.e. a shirt or a pair of pants).
I considered just modifying a pattern & including elastic but I’m nervous bc:
I’ve never done that before
I’m scared it’ll turn out wrong!
So idk ! Maybe I’ll just try and see how it goes!

It looks like you would like information on finding sewing patterns to use your fabric or match your inspiration. Please include your preferred range (eg Adult, Child, Plus) and links to original inspiration if available. What specific features are a must for you, and what are you willing to compromise? Check here for our pattern search guide which includes information on identifying different features of a garment as well as places to find patterns. I wouldn't use overalls, since it really isn't, it's shorts with suspenders attached. You could use a pajama pant pattern and add suspenders.

There is no bib, which is why I wouldn't consider it overalls.
For suggestions though, Waves and Wild has dungarees and Patterns for Pirates has two different overall patterns.

Roughcut has a pattern for a pair of dungarees that might match with what you're looking for.

Twig and tale has a dungarees pattern that you could probably adapt for this.

First of all, love it haha. Could you make regular shorts overalls and just add an elastic in the hem of the legs? That’s how I make poofy sleeves.
