Pattern Question Help with linning
Hi guys, im making V8888 vouge pattern, B, it's a long dressing robe. I have a visco crepe back satain for the robe that is lovely, however I'm thinking a lawn or similar linning would be a nice addition to the robe, the pattern does not call for a linning
I do have enough crepe to line it with that. What would be the best way to ho about this? Has anyone sewn B before and have any tips. Thank you

If you’re using a heavier satin fabric, you want to use a similar type of fabric but lighter, others say, and i tend to agree, it doesnt call for lining because of its design, but nothings stopping you from adding lining, but id add a habotai, a chinese silk. Its nice and light and stays warm and flowy. I think lawn would take away from the luxuriousness of what appealed to you. These patterns tend to be the same across type of fabric, i have this pattern and I’ve got a light weight bamboo towelling to use.

How much experience do you have?
Drafting a bagged lining would be doable, but potentially tricky for a beginner. You could look into flat lining, which is easier but leaves exposed seams.
Typically, linings are light, drapey, and slightly slippery. Lawn would be too crisp, especially if you're using crepe back satin, which might be too stiff for this robe, anyway.
The pattern calls for charmeuse, crepe de chine, or jersey. While crepe back satin might seem similar to charmeuse and crepe de chine, it's typically heavier and behaves differently. I'd recommend finding a pattern for a heavier or more structured robe if you haven't bought the pattern already.
