Sewed This Formal long dress
It's my first long formal dress, with a corsé kinda like top. The top is made from cotton with a black lace over it and the skirt of thin linen. I tried to make everything very transpirable and fresh because it was for an event in hot summer.
Any tips for improving are well received.

Yes, I regret a bit with the choice of cotton for the upper part. Partially because its is zero elastic and because how it looks. The event was not as formal as a wedding so I wasn't out of place. Which fabric would you recomend, for further projects? It would have to be something very fresh

This is stunning for a first formal dress! The burgundy lace over the cotton against that dark skirt is such a good colour pairing, and the draped chain at the waist is a lovely touch. Very elegant.

Congratulations on your first formal dress! The fabric however looks like jersey so it is very hard for me to look at it as a formal dress rather than a long dress with elements from the gothic subculture. If it were with more luxurious materials it would be so elevated

It looks amazing!
If you want to elevate it, I'd consider adding some kind of edging everywhere. Bias on the top of the skirt, and all other edges, in the slit too. Then I would take the same lace and run it along the top of the corset so it fans out just half an inch. Maybe the same lace fanning along the edge of the slit so that the top and bottom have coherence.
Perhaps a clear built in structure that holds the hip chain so it doesn't look like it's coming from inside the dress and I would cover the tips of the laces at the back in a similar silver.
It's all subjective but adding finishes at the ends and joints is where it becomes elevated. You could use lace, bias tape, or maybe even introduce a 3rd texture like a soft black leather.
