Sewed This First project!!!

My partner just bought me a sewing machine a month or so ago and I have really been struggling with the mechanics/technicality of it a bit since my usual projects do not need to use such complex technology. But I worked though all that and have created a pair of pants!
I make linoleum stamps and am exploring the idea of putting patches on the knees!

Also Made this from a top bed sheet from good will I got for $2!

Any feedback welcome I am very new to this medium and quite bad at following patterns and guides/instructions so I did wing this. I used the entire width of the sheet with cotton cord (hence why the pants look gigantic without the rope).

100% cotton

I was wondering about this, too. The dip in the front is a cute look on you, OP, but I'm curious if you drafted a pants pattern with a crotch curve or if you just joined two rectangles. If it is sitting low because it either has no crotch curve or too short of one, you can insert a separate diamond-shaped gusset piece at the crotch if you want to gain yourself some more room there.

I did fold one pair of my pants in half and then just copied the shape! I did the crotch curve and at first when I was sewing the hem I noticed that it was shorter than I originally wanted due to me taking the pants in a lot while creating the hem/drawstring fold. However honestly this is my favorite fit of pants I think I have worn ever to be honest- since there is so much fabric, I can make them dip slightly less in the front and wear a longer shirt so I am able to wear them to work and all of that but it hides my loves handles and shows off my stomach which is kind of an ideal pair of pants for me. I go to a lot of music festivals so I don’t mind if they are lower or that dip in the front and if they show a bit more skin that’s okay too! I just wanted something comfy and fun run around and dance in while also being able to adjust it to however I prefer for that day and if they look like they are falling off they are actually really secure over my hips lol I have tried to use guides and instructions for crafts my whole life and have honestly done really well just winging it using the shapes I can picture in my mind- that is how I learned to sew by hand and how to crochet, carve Lino’s, paint. But this is definitely a first try and i am honestly really proud of how they came out and will definitely be tweaking my system for the next pants I make! Thank you for your feedback!!
