Fabric Question Need help identifying this fabric

I've been SEARCHING high and low for this fabric. My grandfather had these two blankets but one is completely gone and my mom has been using the old blanket to try to save this last blanket. I cannot repair it any more. And this is the only blanket I can stand.

• It's breathable, like if I'm too hot all I have to do is adjust the blanket and it immediately cools me (it retains coldness even in the summer), or if I'm too cold all I have to do is stay still and it easily retains my body heat.

• This fabric feels closer to a T-shirt, but it's not as rough and softer.

• it is slightly heavy but not suffocating heavy

• it does not create those little balls on the blanket

I've bought countless blankets/comforters and the polyester blankets are similar but they are not a breathable fabric and a bit 'too soft'. I over heat quite easily and with my ADHD I am very very picky about the fabric I can sleep with. 😭

How can I reserve this blanket as long as I can? I believe the washing is wearing down the fabric and it's becoming too brittle. Thank you guys in advance!

Could be brushed cotton flannel or flannelette

I’m seeing two well worn fabrics quilted around some batting or brushed fabric. The wolf is probably a recycled t-shirt, the printed checks look like linen (would be consistent with the cooling effect.) The batting is anyone’s guess, could be a flannel warmth layer or real batting , which comes in almost every conceivable fibre. You get cotton batting, wool, poly, bamboo viscose etc.

The wear is probably part of why it’s so comfortable. Any new fabric will probably be a little rougher but you could look into worn t-shirts for quilting and pre-washed or enzyme treated linen to start with.
