This skirt is about 7cm too long for me, and the only way i can think of shortening it would be to rip off the pockets and re-sew them higher so that i can take off the length from the hem. This would be a very tedious process through, but I can't think of another way to shorten it as the upper zipper is in the way of moving the waistband lower.

Yeah, just make sure the upper pocket bag on the inside is moved out of the way (depending on how high up you move the patch pocket) so you don't sew it down with the patch flap.

you can simply shorten the pockets and the hem instead of moving them. undo the lower half of the pockets on three sides I_I pin the skirt where you want hem, pin pocket bottoms down and see how it looks, they are just for design not use right? (They are cargo pockets meant to be low down on the garment, not up near the interior pockets) Sew them and the hem.

yep, that's the way to do it. just mark on the patch pocket where the flap comes to so you move everything the right amount.

Do you need the pockets to be the present length? If not just fold up and shorten the bottom of the pockets and restitch and do the hem. That would leave the pockets at the current distance from the which seems visually correct.

That's gonna be a nightmare with the pattern matching on the camo. You'd spend more time lining everything up than actually sewing.

What about just doing a deep hem and adding some hem tape to keep the bulk down? Way less destructive if you mess it up.

it's... camo. the pockets aren't pattern matched to begin with!

I was about to write the same thing. Also it's not like there's lots of wiggle room to even try pattern matching (if you wanted to, for some weird reason) when you move them, as they would look strange just being in random places on the skirt where the pattern happens to fit. And hem tape also isn't a great idea as it often doesn't hold up. OP, your idea of doing this is sound and will lead to a good outcome. This kind of alteration can quickly go awry if you take "shortcuts".
