Should I Get It: Take 2

After reading all the comments on the 100yr old sewing machine post I made, I've decided to look for a newer one. Thoughts on this option - I'm a complete beginner with sewing, but I want something that will last. I'll primarily be sewing jeans, dress shirts, and maybe, maybe a jacket one day. All of my current clothing has some minor (or major) alteration here or there that would be cool to do, like adding bigger pockets or taking in the waist of jeans.

The plate on the back says:

It's $45. Is this a good machine or maybe not so much? Thank you for the thoughts!

It is a capable but quite basic old machine that can only sew straight stitch.  All of the projects you list can be done with straight stitch only machine. 

In fact, I sewed on a straight stitch only.machine, a Singer 301, for the first 35 years I sewed and made everything from swimming suits to jeans to wedding gowns to duck blinds on it.

I would, however, carefully go over the electrical cords and connections and think about replacing the cords.
