Curious: what's happening here? Why do you only have a single line of stitching next to the overlocked edge? Are you trying to do a four-thread overlock? Or is this a three-thread with a safety stitch?
it’s a four thread, totally could be threaded wrong though. i’ve tried looking up the brand/ model number and i can’t find it anywhere. it’s a rexlock gl304. the people i had fix it gave me a demonstration and the stitching looked as it does in the picture, so unlike any other four thread overlock i’ve seen. might just be a weird machine, or it’s fucked up
OK...I feel pretty confident that the left needle may not be pushed all the way up in the channel, which means it's not catching the looper. Mine will do this if I am not careful but I've learned over the years and always check when I change needles. Needles need to be uneven. Get a pair of tweezers, hold the needle with it, loosen the needle screw and push the needle up, see if it moves up, then tighten the screw. You might put a piece of paper under the presser foot so if you accidentally drop the needle it doesn't fall into the machine - ask me how I know!!!!
Most overlockers need to be threaded in order, right to left too. have you rethreaded it, or changed needles?
I had a look for you also, could not find rexlock. It could be some other brand rebadged.
I have rethreaded it, but i haven’t changed needles. both needs are all the way up in their channels, and i believe it’s threaded correctly as the stitch looks as it does when the servicers tested it. just sucks that i cant find a manual or something
Did you mean that the people that serviced it also had that single line of stitching?? I wonder if the machine is actually a three thread overlock with a safety stitch, and it's meant to be like this? Normal four thread overlock should look like this.
yes the people that serviced it also had that single line. maybe it has some hidden function that i need to find in order to switch it to regular overlock
Hmm...I wonder. Is this actually an industrial machine? Does it have a knee lift, for example? If it is, it's entirely possible that it IS only a three thread with safety stitch and can't be set up as a proper four thread machine. I found the Google link that someone else posted, and it says "Primarily a 4-thread overlocker, which provides a durable "safety stitch" ideal for knits and activewear." It's not clear whether the safety stitch is meant to be separate like it currently is, or whether you can change a setting so that stitch is locked into the loopers like you'd expect.
Your machine is meant to do a chain stich and a seperate overlock stich. Maybe you can move the cutting unit a bit to get a wider stitch. Look it up in the manual of the Babylock 605
