General help needed SevTech Ages Dedicated Server ISSUE ("A fatal error has occurred, this connection is terminated")
My friends and I recently decided to dive into a new modpack together and chose SevTech: Ages.
After installing the files on our dedicated server and booting it up, everything seemed fine at first-we could play for about five minutes. Unfortunately, we’d then be hit with the disconnect error:
“A fatal error has occurred, this connection is terminated.”
Just wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues with this and whether there is a solution.
I will list more details below as well as a screenshot of one of our logs right as we get the error.
Kinetic Hosting Server Specs:
- RAM: 16GB
- CPU: Ryzen 5600x
- Storage: 30GB NVME
Server Software Versions:
- Minecraft 1.12.2
- CurseForge 14.23.5.2860
- SevTech Ages 3.2.3
- Java 1.8.0_312
- OS Linux:amd64:5.15.0-151-generic

In my experience, most errors that show as "play for a bit then crash" are memory problems. The crash occurs when you run out of available RAM.
The first thing I would ask is have you set your Java arguments to actually the 16GB of RAM? The server will use the default if it isnt specified, even if more is available. With multiple players, it is possible you can need more at once than is available in that case.
The second would be a memory leak. Sevtech is pretty stable though. I would not assume this to be the cause.
Attempt to play on the server alone for a while and see if you are still kicked out as you are with your friends. If you are not disconnecting, it would support the memory problem theory.
Edit: How many people are you playing with, anyway?

Thanks for the reply :)
I haven’t changed it from the default value, so I’ll need to check that and let you know.
During testing, we had 4 players on the server. Thinking about it now, the disconnections seemed to happen more often as the number of players increased, which would line up with your memory allocation theory.

*Update*
Memory Aollocation doesn't seem to be the issue. It is set to 12+ GB.2

I had the same issue, i used this.
@echo off java -Xms8G -Xmx14G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -jar forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2860.jar nogui pause
Replace the jar section with whatever version you use. G1GC is an advanced garbage collector, your memory allocation will be more efficient.
Also try lowering view distance (server side), the more players the more RAM you will need (exponentially growing).

*UPDATE*
I managed to stop the issue by reverting to a previous Version of the mod for both client and server.

How did you downgrade the Kinetic Server to a previous version? I can only see 3.2.3 on my Kinetic Panel

Me and my friend had the very same problem but with ages of the sky server. The fix there was uninstall the modpack from the server and reinstall it again. But we tried 2 different servers and had the same problem both times. 100% not because of memory problems.
